Engineered Systems - Industry Solutions, Modular Unidrive SPMs, Large Enclosed Drives & Unidrive SP Free Standing Drives

When ready-to-mount, free-standing, or packaged drives can't answer the need, our Engineering Centers deliver a comprehensive and cost-effective design, build and commissioning solution. Forty years of building electronic-based drive systems has given us the knowledge and expertise to support nearly any application.

We have systems specialists in automotive assembly and testing, mining and aggregates, oil and gas, metals processing, glass, plastics and rubber, heavy moveable structures, water/wastewater pumping, web handling and power generation, converting, packaging, printing, forestry, irrigation, and ski lifts.

For information regarding RapidPaks, StandardPaks & CustomPaks solutions please see our Packaged Drives section.

Performance and Connectivity

Emerson Industrial Automation systems are built for high performance, continuous duty, and to work efficiently, effectively, and to specification in any environment, Solution Modules are used to tailor the drive systems to applications. These modules provide memory for application programs, enhanced I/O, and support for all major fieldbus protocols.

Communications and interoperability are critical to achieving optimum performance in both green field and retrofit installations. CTNet offers the best low-cost, high-speed, peer-to-peer solution for deterministic control of coordinated multi-drive systems. For motion control applications or drive synchronization within 250 μsec, CTSync with Advanced Position Controller insures precision performance.

CTNet and CTSync networking are built into the SM-Applications Plus and SM-Applications modules used in Control Techniques system drives.

Driving Technology
(Modular power units for system integrators and OEMS)

The new Unidrive SPM is the modular systems version of the Unidrive SP. Unidrive SPM's enable more power (to 2900 hp) and system design flexibility. "Off-the-shelf" inverter and rectifier modules provide greater value, while lowering cost. Other benefits of this UL-approved modular
drive system include:

  • Superior control of high current motors with
    parallel output inverter modules
  • Active front ends configurable to return energy
to AC supply or to eliminate harmonics
  • Easily implement 12, 18, or 24 pulse rectifiers
for harmonics mitigation in compliance with
    supply regulations (IEEE-519)

Large Enclosed Drives

NEMA12 Positive Pressure Blown and Filtered AC drive system with all the state-of-the-art integration features of the Unidrive SP. The robust Unidrive SPM technology from Control Techniques gives users the power, performance, and the ultimate in flexibility for all AC applications from 100 hp to 500 hp.

This cost competitive, pre-engineered "AC In - AC Out" solution is a perfect match for both high-performance, and standard drive applications, such as fans, pumps and conveyors.

Unidrive SP Free Standing Drives

The Unidrive SP Free Standing AC drives extend the power range of "the Benchmark" solution platform to 1000 hp, while providing users with the same integration options as the standard, panel-mount Unidrive SP. Packaged in an IP21 or IP23 enclosure, these Free Standing drives deliver maximum horsepower density for physical size, and include rectifier, inverter and inductor. In addition, an "Incomer" enclosure is available with line power bus bars included to integrate fuse switch/MCCB etc.
