Overview
FM controls are application modules that provide
added functionality to EN Series and MDS Drives. These modules
mount directly to the front of any EN Series or MDS drive,
which is convenient or existing installations with limited mounting space, and is an
economical solution for users wishing to stock drives and not controls. Currently, there
are seven FM control modules from which to choose, depending upon the level of control
needed.
FM-2 Indexing Module
The FM-2 module enhances EN and MDS operation by adding positioning capability including Jog, Home, and Index functions. The FM-2 also includes additional I/O providing 8 digital inputs and 4 digital ouputs.
FM-3 Programming Module
The FM-3 module transforms the EN or MDS drive into a fully programmable single-axis motion controller. For flexibility above and beyond the FM-2, the FM-3 adds motion programming. The FM-3 utilizes PowerTools Pro versatile software giving the user an easy tool to create even the most complex of applications.
FM-4 Advanced Programming Module
For the most complex and challenging applications, the FM-4 can "do-it-all" while still maintaining our tradition of "Motion Made Easy." The FM-4 module extends beyond FM-3 functionality offering program multitasking, multiple profile summation, high speed position capture, queuing and many more additionafeatures.
Connectivity
FM controls enable EN and MDS drives to seamlessly integrate with EtherNet, DeviceNet and Profibus networks. The "Motion Made Easy" implementation of DeviceNet and Profibus gives the user complete control.
New! FM-3E and FM-4E EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP Compliant controls.
The FM-3/4E supports both major industrial Ethernet implementations: EtherNet/IP (AB Contrologix), and Modbus TCP/IP, making the FM the only module you need to communicate with almost any PLC or HMI product. In addition to real time data capabilities, the FM-3E and FM-4E can use explicit messaging for peer-to-peer communications, which means communicating between modules without a Master on the network. The FM modules can be configured to send email-based messages on events and has a built-in web server for instant recognition and diagnostics of drives connected on the Ethernet network.
