Overview
The high performance of brushless motors combined with the robust
mechanical abilities of planetary roller screws make the GS series linear actuators the
perfect choice for demanding linear motion applications.
The roller screw s unique design for transmitting forces enables it to
carry a heavy load for thousands of hours in the most arduous conditions. The internal
brushless motor offers high acceleration and cycle rate capability, as well as precise
positioning and smooth motion. The design of the patented GS series offers the
most compact package possible by making the planetary roller screw and brushless motor
an integral unit.
These innovative devices do away with the complex support systems
(hydraulic power supplies, servo-valve, filtering, plumbing, etc.) and high
maintenance associated with electronically controlled fluid power actuators.
Roller screws and actuators offer simplified control due to their all-electric
nature and greater (90% vs. 50%) power conversion efficiency.
The user is typically responsible for engineering the linear motion
system, which often includes purchasing the actuator, motor, gear reducer, timing
belt mounting, flexible couplings, etc. separately, and then assembling these
components so that they perform properly in the given application. The GS actuator
eliminates the need for this systems engineering. The elements for producing
linear motion have been properly matched and designed into the actuator and tested
for efficiency, smoothness, accuracy, rigidity and reliability. All this is accomplished
in a much smaller package than traditional rotary-to-linear conversion
mechanisms.
